Funeral for a Moth

In this photography project I used a scanner in place of my camera. I scanned several images of a moth who died near my home and some of the surrounding foliage from his natural habitat. The plants convey different messages and feelings such as beauty, danger, or ugly and common. The moth is less colorful then similar species but stands out in these images in several ways.

The following project was an experiment as to what could be done using a large format camera to create 4x5 negatives and combine them using only darkroom techniques. The project was inspired by the fantastic work of Jerry Uelsmann. Keep in mind that none of this is done using a computer!

Darkroom Editing

Recreation

An old photo I recreated digitally by setting up the room, recreating clothing by sewing, and using a self timer on a tripod to capture the shot. I later went into photoshop to edit colors and add vignetting. The photos are both of myself with about a twenty year difference.
